The Night Freddie Met His Doom

The Night Freddie Met His Doom

By J. Lynne Moore

He found himself alone in the dark,
Freddie had spent five, dark, soulless nights,
In the cold dead space of the silent, uninvited hills.

The clock tower chimed the 11th hour
And he was surrounded by the evil dead.
He had been the 7th guest of a hideous corpse party.

But now everyone had been left for dead.

Freddie knew he shall never make it until dawn,
For when the evil within had its way
He would assuredly be dead by daylight.

The evil residents of this fatal frame,
Were the blood borne spawn of hell,
And the dead were rising to take him away…

It would be a dark decent into eternal darkness…

Down to Dante’s Inferno of the condemned!

A/N – This is just a fun poem, an ode to many of my favorite video games.

Tea Time

Tea Time

By J. Lynne Moore

Take your time,
You won’t be late.
I’ll make sure,
To unlock the gate.

That’s the way…
Don’t look back.
I don’t bite…
Take off your pack.

Settle in, now.
Tea and cakes?
Oh don’t mind,
Those pesky snakes…

Another sip?
Then close your eyes.
You won’t wake up;
It’s my surprise.

Silly child…
Don’t you know?
Never trust a witch,
When the moon’s aglow.

Dancing Shadow

Dancing Shadow

By J. Lynne Moore

that shadow dancing
on the wall
resembles me
but then again
not at all
slumbering through
my waking day
this shadow follows
me in every way
I haven’t got a clue
you see
I have no idea
what it wants
with me
does it wish me ill
will it do me harm
or…is it following me
as my lucky charm
the shadow dancing
in the light
haunts me
in the night
is the shadow who I am
or is it who I want to be

Eternal Hunter

Eternal Hunter

By J. Lynne Moore

Secrets crawling,
In the dark.
Caressing shadows…
Hit the mark.

Devious intent,
Swirls contrite;
Innocent to victim,
Evil’s blight.

Tank of emotions…
Empty… not a drop.
Human automaton,
Won’t ever stop.

Bloody hands,
Numbing rage,
Sings a new song,
Torn from an old page.

A prize now won,
Move on to the next.
Just a day in the life,
Of a soul vexed.

Witching Hour

Witching Hour

By J. Lynne Moore

death be damned
at the curtain call
the devil shouts,
“T’is last call!!”

demons cheer
banshee’s shriek
the witching hour
begins to peak

a free for all
begins tonight
lock your doors
stay out of sight

hell’s door opens
on the midnight hour
purgatory’s spawn
walk in power

gnashing teeth
tickle your ears
spectral hands
bring you fear

they know your sins
and will not wait
transgressions awarded
they’ll seal your fate

hark, the witching hour
now in full swing
spirits of hell frolic
with death to bring

Midnight Snack

Midnight Snack

By J. Lynne Moore

A half-cracked quack,
With scalpelled hand;
Cuts through the chest,
To reveal the great expand.

The life drum beating,
Before the wicked quack…
To the rhythm of the beat,
A steaming midnight snack.

With a flick and a glint,
For a moment more it thumps.
Slurpy, slurp…crunch…
Into his mouth it jumps.

Warm blood now dripping,
From the quack’s vile chin…
His hunger stayed for now,
But tomorrow he’ll do it again.

Dinner With The Redcaps

Dinner with the Redcaps

By J. Lynne Moore

The shadow of night,
Drips through the trees,
A raven’s caw, caw,
Butchers the breeze.

Crimson eyes flicker,
Parading on high,
Draw you closer,
But you don’t know why.

A shudder of fear,
Tickles your mind.
Is this all a dream?
Can you make it rewind?

The trap is sprung,
The nightmare’s real!
Dinner for the Redcaps…
They dine with zeal!

A/N: Redcaps are a malevolent type of goblin type creature that is said to inhabit abandoned castles and said to kill strangers that take refuge in the castles.
