Midnight Snack

Midnight Snack

By J. Lynne Moore

A half-cracked quack,
With scalpelled hand;
Cuts through the chest,
To reveal the great expand.

The life drum beating,
Before the wicked quack…
To the rhythm of the beat,
A steaming midnight snack.

With a flick and a glint,
For a moment more it thumps.
Slurpy, slurp…crunch…
Into his mouth it jumps.

Warm blood now dripping,
From the quack’s vile chin…
His hunger stayed for now,
But tomorrow he’ll do it again.

Dinner With The Redcaps

Dinner with the Redcaps

By J. Lynne Moore

The shadow of night,
Drips through the trees,
A raven’s caw, caw,
Butchers the breeze.

Crimson eyes flicker,
Parading on high,
Draw you closer,
But you don’t know why.

A shudder of fear,
Tickles your mind.
Is this all a dream?
Can you make it rewind?

The trap is sprung,
The nightmare’s real!
Dinner for the Redcaps…
They dine with zeal!

A/N: Redcaps are a malevolent type of goblin type creature that is said to inhabit abandoned castles and said to kill strangers that take refuge in the castles.

Moonlit Feast

Moonlit Feast

By J. Lynne Moore

A rising moon sparkles bright;
Over the horizon clear in sight.

Transforms the tranquil forest vale,
Into a shadowy nefarious fairytale.

Yet no fairy or pixie flight,
Can be seen in this silvered light.

A piercing howl cuts the scene,
Soon a hulking hirsute figure is seen.

A human on any other day;
Tonight the moon has its sway.

Calling forth this ghastly beast,
In want of flesh to make a feast.

With sabered teeth and vicious claw,
He hopes, upon your bones to gnaw.

A demon lurks the forest tonight;
The werewolf hunts with great delight.

Vampire’s Kiss

Vampire’s Kiss

By J. Lynne Moore

From the open window,
Moonlight softly drips;
Rolling across freely,
Sparkling on his tender lips.

It bounces off the rose,
That caresses his stone cut cheeks.
My hand rests upon his chest,
As it moves in valleys and peaks.

I allow him one more breath,
One more beat of his heart.
With a kiss I take his life,
So another can eternally start.

His eyes will open soon…
Forever he will be mine.
Between blood and shadows,
We will live a life divine.

Fang Fic – A Vampire Vignette

Fang Fic – A Vampire Vignette

By J. Lynne Moore

Dearest Alucard,

My mind is filled with irrational thoughts. Ever since you came to Japan, I have not been able to clear the last words you spoke to me from my consciousness. I knew others of my kind existed, but no one of your caliber…no one who could be my equal.

Darling, I am not so naive to think that you could ever truly love me, but I will, with the whole of my existence, strive to be your most faithful companion.

Seras Victoria, is nothing but a dirty-blood; though she shows you great loyalty, she can never understand what it is to be pure.

Allow me to be your queen, we will rule the shadows together. Let me spend eternity proving that I am the woman that deserves to be at your side. You know the power that is held within my veins. You know that with me by your side, we will be unstoppable.

Alucard, let my words not fall on deaf ears. Eternity is ours, the night is ours…we can take the House of Hellsing to heights that it has not known before.

I eagerly await your reply,
Your humble servant…

Love,
Saya Otonashi

A Wicked Brew

A Wicked Brew

By J. Lynne Moore

Her steady hand moved with grace,
As the cauldron bubbled in this wicked place.

An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth,
She would have her revenge, for she knew the truth.

Banished he would be, from his sinful life,
No more to cause her dead heart strife.

The wings of a fly and a rotten toad,
The sweat from a horse a sailor rode.

Forty-two stalks of swamp root grass,
A pinch of ruby dust and the gills of a bass.

Boil it for five and stir it twice,
Then test the juice out on a pair of mice.

Victory would be hers by the break of dawn,
One tiny sip and he would be gone.

No more would he lie, no more would he cheat,
In moments he would be sitting in the devil’s seat.

“Drink my love, your morning brew.”
She cackled to herself, “If he only knew!”

He thought he was smart and oh so clever,
Now he calls hell home, forever and ever.

Mermaids

Mermaids

By J. Lynne Moore

Silver ripples float on a cobalt sea,
As whispers swirl in the subtle wind.
Kaleidoscope flowers feed the honey bees,
The line between realms starts to bend.

For if you sit silent and still,
A bit of magic may be revealed;
An enchanted spectacle sure to thrill,
As mythical mermaids are unconcealed.

With scales of sage and crimson and gold,
They splash about in the mermaid cove;
And when they moon is full, bright and bold,
It shines its spot light on this treasure trove.

Locks of seaweed drape their elegant frames,
Their fishy tails flip, flap and flop;
And sway with the tide as it waxes and wanes,
You’ll hope their siren songs never stop.

As the sky breaks with lemony light,
The magical vale begins to thin and fades;
Before you know it, they are all out of sight,
And ends the dance of the mystic mermaids.

Father of Fear – A Vampire Vignette

Father of Fear

By J. Lynne Moore

Ahhh the smell of home, the old country…how I have longed to be home again…my true home. Romania…it rolls of the tongue, like royal blood slides down the throat.

Yet…nothing is the same, life…death…NOTHING!

They do not fear me anymore. Don’t they know that fear makes the blood sweeter?

They have turned me into a joke, a laughing stock!! They do not FEAR me!! There are toys in my image, they wear fake teeth and dress like fools. The books and movies they make about me are hideous and full of wicked lies. They think I have feelings of love and compassion, little do they know the purest of evil fuels my dead heart. They pretend to be me, they have forgotten who I really am, they have mocked me for long enough!

I will remind them!! I will take back the night and terror will reign again! Their blood will moisten my lips; I will slaughter them, without mercy!! My father will not be the victim of their jokes anymore. I will remind them who the great Count Dracula was and they will fear the House of..Drăculești. AGAIN!!

Death Comes

Death Comes

By J. Lynne Moore

Red lingered on the lip,
A sigh…then one last sip.

Ivory sparkles beneath,
Crimson gums…teeth!

Copper wafting in the air,
Sure to make the nostril flair.

Supper served,
on a porcelain neck.
Sorry, my dear,
there’s no rain check.

Hug the light…if you can;
When fear paints the night cyan.

For shadows flow…oozy ink…
And death comes in a blink!
