Hold Your Tongue

Hold Your Tongue

By J. Lynne Moore

Tame is the tongue,
That speaks no lies…
And drowns gossip,
Until it dies.

Falls from the mouth…
Nary a blistered word;
Of those whose secrets,
Have been unheard.

Alas, a buttoned lip,
Will produce no shame.
When locked, unbending,
The tongue that is tame.
